Google Celebrates Farid Al Atrash’s 110th Birth Anniversary

Today marks the 110th birth anniversary of Arabic music icon Farid Al Atrash, that is why Google celebrates his birth anniversary.

Born in Syria, Al Atrash is most known for his romantic music, impressive lute notes, and his relationship with his younger sister Asmahan.

His musical career started after moving to Cairo with his brother, sister, and mother especially when he worked at Badia Masabni’s theater.

Al Atrash has strong ties with his younger sister Asmahan as they used to support each other in the scene of music. Both Al Atrash and Asmahan contributed together in many works  like starring in Intisar Al Shabab (The Victory of Youth).

Furthermore, Al Atrash composed many of Asmahan's songs like Layali El Ons Fi Vienna (Vienna's Nights of Joy).

Al Atrash's music reflected a sense of innovation and uniqueness so his music attracted admiration in Egypt. He added a lot of modern musical tunes to the classic Arabic music, in addition, his vocals express a sense of purity and originality.

His most celebrated songs include Alby Wi Moftahoh (The Clue of my Heart), Manheremsh El Omr Koloh (May I never be Deprived of you), Laktob Ala Awaraa’ Al Shagar (I am Writing on the Leaves), and many others.

He was not only a musician or composer but he was also an actor. He starred in many films like Intisar Al Shabab (The Victory of Youth), Shahr Al Asal (The Honeymoon), Lahn Al Kholod (Immortal Song), and Habib Hayati (The Love of My Life).
