Gold Prices Jump to Highest Level in History

Gold prices in the local markets jumped today, Wednesday, to the highest level in the history of Egypt ,despite the decline of the ounce price on the global stock exchange, due to the rise in the exchange rate of the dollar against the pound.

Eid Youssef, head of the Gold Division in the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, said that gold prices rose by EGP 55 , in local market during today’s trading, as 21 karat gold recorded EGP1115 , the highest price in local markets and breaking its previous number of 1100 during last March, while the ounce recorded $1952.

He added that 24 karat gold is sold at EGP 1274 , 18 karat gold is sold at EGP 956 , while the gold pound recorded EGP8920.
