Adam Wingard, who directed the 2021 movie, returns to direct the MonsterVerse follow-up, which will star Dan Stevens.

The sequel is produced by Legendary, Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Eric McLeod, Thomas Tull, and Jon Jashni.

The follow-up will be the fifth movie in the franchise after directed Gareth Edwards launched it with 2014’s “Godzilla”, which was followed by “Kong: Skull Island” and “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” before the two traded blows in “Godzilla vs. Kong".

It starred Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza Gonzalez, Kyle Chandler, Demián Bichir, and others.

The movie was directed by Wingard and written by Max Borenstein and Eric Pearson.

“Godzilla vs. Kong” was released under the studio’s day-and-date pandemic model and allocated $31.6M opening, $100.9M domestic, and $470M WW gross, despite being released on HBO Max the same day it hit theaters.

In 2020, Warner Bros. announced that it plans to release its entire 2021 movie slate on HBO Max and in theaters simultaneously to appeal to a wider audience amid the coronavirus pandemic.
