Egyptian government resumed its efforts in organising tourism programmes for foreign teams that participate in tournaments and sports events organised by various sports federations.

An event was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports  to revive the tourism sector despite COVID-19 woes.

In line with the overwhelming support and effective policy of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in the 2021 World Handball tournament for men, the Ministry represented by the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board distributed souvenirs and promotional materials for tourist destinations.

Also, the Ministry gave out replica antiquities to the players and members of the teams participating in the tourney.

Ahmed Youssef, the CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board said: "The Board presented symbolic and souvenir gifts bearing the Egyptian logo to the sports teams participating in the tournament and the technical and administrative bodies accompanying the teams and we welcomed them to the land of Egypt."

Youssef, added that these remarkable gifts were sent to the hotel in which they are staying, while following all the precautionary procedures followed with the teams.

Moreover, he pointed out the ministry's support to use such massive events to promote Egyptian tourist and archaeological destinations and to project a positive image of Egypt abroad and its ability to organize such major events.

In the same context, the players and members of the Swiss, French and Japanese handball teams and the participants in the tournament had visited the pyramid antiquities and different archaeological sites earlier this week.

According to reports,  the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has participated in providing some logistical and tourism programs for the fans of the tournament, who come from abroad to cheer their teams.

Earlier this week, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities directed all archaeological sites and museums to continue implementing precautionary measures, including maintaining social distancing between people during visits, wearing face masks and that the number of tourist groups is not to exceed 25 inpiduals.

In addition, the Ministry urged the public to adhering to the maximum number of visitors present at the same time inside museums and other archaeological sites.

It is worth noting that both Minister of Sport and Youth Ashraf Sobhy and Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Al-Anani met last year to discuss methods of cooperation between their ministries.

This cooperation has been aimed at promoting sports tourism, and how to benefit from international and local sporting events to promote Egypt.
