Every Christmas, the British Royal Family releases official Christmas cards, so this story overviews the history of the British Royal Family's Christmas cards.

In 1914, King George V and Queen Mary sent cards that depict their signatures and photos to the British soldiers who participated in WW I.

The main aim of sending these cards was to motivate the soldiers to fight in the war.

In 1942, Queen Elizabeth II preferred to follow her grandfather's traditions of sending such cards to the soldiers.

In 1955, the Queen released the first Christmas card that carried a photo of her with her husband Prince Philip, her son, Prince Charles, and her daughter, Princess Anne.

1981 Christmas card carried a photo of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The photo was taken at their wedding.

In 1981, the Christmas card was special as it showed a photo of Prince Charles, Princess Diana, and their newborn child Prince William.

In 1982, the Royal Family released a Christmas card depicted Prince Charles, Princess Diana, and their both sons: Prince William, and the infant Prince Harry.

In 1993, the family released a different Christmas card because it showed a photo of Prince Charles with his sons: Prince William, and Prince Harry without Princess Diana.

This card was released after the couple porced.

However, in 1995, the Royal Family released a Christmas card that depicted a photo of Princess Diana with her sons: Prince William, and Prince Harry although Princess Diana was officially porced and parted ways with the Royal Family.

Then, the Royal Family continued its tradition of releasing a Christmas card with photos of its members.

This photo featured Prince Charles, and his new wife Princess Camilla, his sons: Prince William and Prince Harry, and Princess Camilla's son Tom, and daughter Laura. It was released in 2005.

This year, the Royal Family released a Christmas card carried a casual photo of Prince William, Princess Kate Middleton, and their three kids: Prince Louis, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte.
