The opposition Left and Greens parties in Germany demanded that parliament compel the government to implement the arms embargo on Turkey.

Last year, Germany announced a freeze on exports of weapons and military equipment to the Turkish army, after Turkey launched a military operation in Syria.

According to the news published by Turkish Zaman newspaper, the two parties demanded the "Bundestag" to implement the arms export ban, due to the ongoing state of tension between Ankara and Europe, as a result of Turkey's policy in many files such as "Syria, Libya, the Eastern Mediterranean, and Cyprus."

After the existing tensions with Turkey due to the natural gas explorations in the eastern Mediterranean, Greece demanded the German authorities to stop its exports of arms and military equipment to Turkey, especially its exports to the Turkish navy.
