Egyptian Minister of Immigration and Expatriates Affairs Dr. Nabila Makram held a meeting Thursday with environmental engineering expert Erine Estmalek, deputy head of the German Corporation for InternationalCooperation.

During the meeting, the duo discussed all means of enhancing cooperation and mutual benefit in the field of environment.

Estmalek, who is currently visiting Egypt, has achieved great successes in the environmental engineering field in Germany during the recent period.

On her part, the minister stressed that Egypt provides all means of support to Egyptian experts abroad to make use of their deep experiences in the implementation of various national projects in many fields.

She added that the ministry sponsored “Egypt Can” meetings, over the last four years; this resulted in the formation of “Egypt Can Institution.”

The institution represents a platform to communicate with Egyptian scientists abroad and links them with ministries and agencies wishing to cooperate with them.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian minister said that she is fully prepared to provide her country with the expertise in the environmental engineering field.

She pointed out that it has an integrated environmental project, which aims to raise awareness among Egyptian students over the importance of water conservation.

"The project also deals with sewage and best ways to get rid of waste that pollute drinking water," she added.

Estmalek pointed out that targeting students will be rapidly reflected in creating generations that really realize the value of water and have the full awareness of dealing with the environment surrounding them.

She said that the German environmental organizations are eager to transfer their experiences in the environmental engineering field.

She also expressed her desire to join “Egypt Can Institution.”

“The institution pays great attention to Egyptian scientists and experts living abroad," she explained. "It creates a permanent link between those scientists and their homeland.”
