German Schools, Daycare Facilities Closed Till Mid-April

German federal states have announced that almost all schools and daycare centres will be closed next week.

This closure will be applied on the daycare facilities and primary and secondary schools until the mid-April.

It will last until the beginning of the schools holidays.

The German institutions will be effectively closed until the end of the Easter holidays which will be end in conjunction with the beginning of the schools holidays.

Winfriend Kretschman, the Minister President of Baden-Württemberg announced on Friday that schools and daycare centers would be closed from Tuesday until March 17, the end of the Easter holidays.

Bavaria state followed Baden-Württemberg to be the second time in closing schools.

Markus Söder, Bavaria Minister President said that all schools and daycare centres would remain closed from Monday, March 16.

He added that this will continue until the beginning of the Easter holidays on April 6, to slow the spread of the virus. 

In Berlin, Daycare centres and schools are also due to be closed, but in stages. The closures will begin with secondary schools on Monday. All other schools will then be closed from Tuesday until the end of the Easter Holidays. This was announced by the Senate Department for Education on Friday.

The closure is being applied over many German cities to avoid spreading the virus between students.
