GEM Holds Press Conference on Transfer of 1st Khufu’s boat

The officials at the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) held a press conference about the transfer of the Khufu’s boat from the pyramid archaeological area to the Grand Egyptian Museum in a great epic.

Dr. Al-Tayeb Abbas, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Archaeological Affairs at the Grand Egyptian Museum, said that the boat will remain inside its metal structure until the completion of Khufu Boat Museum building, where a tight environmental control system was set up to monitor temperatures and humidity.

Major General Atef Moftah, the general supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum project and the surrounding area, explained that the process of transferring the first Khufu’s boat is one of the most important, complex and unique archaeological engineering projects.

The project to transfer the first Khufu boat aims to preserve the largest, oldest and most important monument, which is made of wood. The first 4600 years old Khufu boat will be displayed in a proper manner at the Grand Egyptian Museum.
