Gaza Strip begins receiving $ 7-10 million worth of Egyptian fuel, which Qatar paid for as part of a plan to help the financially stricken sector pay the salaries of government employees, according to Reuters.

A Hamas official informed Reuters that Qatar will start sending Gaza up to $10 million worth of Egyptian fuel a month under a plan to fund civil service pay in the impoverished Palestinian enclave ruled by the Islamist group.

Qatar has previously announced that it had signed agreements with Egypt to supply fuel and building materials to Gaza but did not provide any further details.

The movement would receive the fuel through the border crossing with Egypt, then sell it to petrol stations in the Strip and use the money to pay the salaries of employees, including teachers and doctors, according to the agreement between Hamas and Qatar.
