On 27 July 2021, the "Elimination of Vascular Thrombosis" conference was inaugurated by the vice presidents of Egypt's General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) Islam Abou Saif and Christelle Saghbini, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sanofi Egypt medical company.

GAHAR in partnership with the Egyptian Society of vascular Surgeons (VSE) officially launched and adopted ‘The Elimination of Deep vein thrombosis’ initiative, which is designed to end vascular trauma and promote inclusiveness in Egypt's medical system sector.

In his address at the launch, Abou Saif said that “Through programs like the EVT, we will help Egyptians surgeons, enhance their skills, and join with other global medical pioneers from Sanofi to  build a network of professional surgeons who can share best practices for dealing with vascular trauma challenges.”

"This program offers target-specific techniques with much less risk and trauma than conventional surgery for the management of the vascular systems," he added.

On the other hand, Saghbini spoke on the role of Sanofi over the last years in supporting Egypt's development - in the medical system and its human health development.

"Today is actually the kickoff of an important program from Gahar and VSE to end Vascular Trauma in Egypt," the head of  Sanofi told Sada El-balad English (See).

"Also, we are very proud to sponsor and participate in such events like this in Egypt that encourage medical staffs to raise the awareness of the impending vascular Trauma crisis and aid medical workers to eliminate and reduce vascular thrombosis, which is globally increasing," she added.

In the same context, Dr. Ahmed Safwat, a member of GAHAR's medical department spoke at (EVT 2021) on strategies to reduce or eliminate contrast in vascular compromised patients.

He explained the first step in creating this type of program is putting together the required sub-specialists who have an interest.

Safwat said: "This is not something you can do by yourself; it requires a team effort to care for these patients."
