This year, there aren’t plenty of ways to celebrate Christmas with your loved ones. Zoom, Houseparty, and Skype can help you bridge the gap left.

Try these virtual Christmas party ideas to have fun with beloved ones, no matter how far they are.

  • Bingo

You can play a bingo game around Christmas, with your friend/workgroup, or anything you want. Simply make a bingo card for each person attending, email it over to them, and become a bingo caller for the evening.

  • Scavenger hunt

This game is great fun if you have a small or medium-sized group. Call out items your attendees might have in their home and the first one back gets a point each time.

  • Team picture scavenger hunt

If you have a larger group, you can split your party into breakout rooms, and get them to play as a team. Have them send pictures of themselves holding the items or using them.

  • Big fat quiz of the year

If your friends, family, and colleagues have been doing Zoom quizzes, you can switch it up by keeping it topical, focusing on events, celeb news, and everything else that happened in this bizarre year.

  • Who said it?

Your group probably has all manner of funny stories and quotable moments, so read out the outlandish comments they’ve made and get the team to guess who said it.

Have everyone put their address in with their name before picking them out with online tools like Elfster, and open the gifts as part of your party.

  • Hire an entertainer

With the entertainment industry suffering, there are comedians, singers, and speakers who are looking for work. If you have some cash to spare, get in touch with your favorite performers, and see if they might be willing to be part of the show.

  • Christmas card competition

Before you the party starts, ask the guests to get their funniest Christmas cards, a go through each one by sharing your screens or showing the physical cards off, with the best one getting a prize.
