French ambassador to Cairo Marc Barety affirmed that his country, which is a producer and exporter of wheat, is currently giving priority to its wheat exports to Egypt during the current harvest season, in order to support Cairo in facing the repercussions of the food crisis that the world is currently suffering from as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

In response to a question by the Middle East News Agency, during an interview he held with a limited number of journalists on the occasion of his country's National Day, Barety said that his country's support for Egypt in facing the repercussions of the food crisis includes the bilateral dimension represented in the export of wheat and the European dimension, as the European Union announced the allocation of a sum of 100 million euros to support Egypt in overcoming the global food crisis.

He added that France played an important role in order to support Egypt to establish more silos to store grain and to maximize Egyptian productivity of food products.

He noted that the third dimension is the international one through the "Farm" initiative launched by French President Emmanuel Macron, which aims to provide urgent aid to the countries most affected by the food crisis and to supply the countries most at risk with the crops they need, noting that the initiative includes maximizing the productivity of grain-producing countries.
