For First Time: Iran Announces Production of Influenza Vaccine

The assistant to the Iranian President for Scientific and Technological Affairs, Sorna Stari, announced the production of a flu vaccine in the country for the first time.

Stari said during his visit to Isfahan that there will be a large-scale production of influenza vaccine in the country in the near future.

He added that this vaccine is being produced in the country for the first time, and 3 other vaccines will be unveiled in the first half of the current Iranian year. The Iranian national year starts on March 21 every year.

Regarding the fight against the novel Coronavirus, Stari said that the Scientific and Technological Department in the Presidency of the Republic of Iran has concluded contracts with 6 companies and research centers to produce the Corona vaccine.

The Iranian official revealed that two firms near to produce a vaccine curing from the deadly virus.

And the Iranian Ministry of Health announced yesterday that it recorded 229 new deaths due to the Coronavirus during the last 24 hours. It was the highest daily rate since the first cases appeared in the country.

The Iranian Ministry indicated that 3589 people infected with Coronavirus are in a critical condition in intensive care facilities, while the number of people recovering from "COVID-19" has increased to 242,351.

On the other hand, the ministry reported that it has so far conducted 2201958 examinations for the diagnosis of corona throughout the country.

Health authorities in Iran reported that several provinces are in red health status with regard to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

However, the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani revealed during a meeting of the National Committee to Combat the Coronavirus (COVID-19) today, Saturday that he received a report from the Ministry of Health containing estimates of the infection of 25 million Iranians with the Coronavirus.

Rouhani added that another 30 to 35 million Iranian citizens are vulnerable to the COVID-19 infection, according to the report. The Iranian president stated that 500 out of every 1,000 infected people in the country do not have symptoms of the disease.

He pointed out that during the past 150 days of the outbreak of the pandemic, hospitals received about 200,000 patients, warning that this number may double over the coming period, so Iran must be prepared for the worst in hospitals.

Rouhani stressed that the country is living in the second wave of the Corona outbreak, considering that the second wave of infections is caused by the end of the citizens' fear of the virus.

Rouhani said that Iran has not yet reached collective immunity, and that everyone must cooperate in order to cut the chain of virus outbreaks, affirming that the most effective way to curb the spread of the deadly virus is to wear masks, social pergence, and reduce gatherings.

Rouhani highlighted the way the Coronavirus infiltrated Iran. He noted that, according to reports, the virus entered the holy city of Qom through merchants who came from the Chinese city of Wuhan.

The Coronavirus entered Kailan Province through students and athletes who were in Wuhan.

According to official data, Iran has so far recorded about 270,000 cases of Corona virus and 13,791 deaths.

On the other hand, an Iranian opposition group in exile held yesterday, Friday, its annual conference on the Internet, and two years after a failed conspiracy to bomb its conference in France.

The so-called "Paris-based National Council of the Iranian Resistance" is seeking to put pressure on the Tehran government" despite the outbreak of the Coronavirus in the country.

The council, which includes Iranian opposition groups abroad and which seeks to end the rule of clerics in Iran, used to hold an annual conference outside the French capital.
