An official delegation from United Arab Emirates (UAE) headed to Israel for the first time on Tuesday as the two countries seek to enhance cooperation after normalizing ties under a U.S.-brokered accord signed last month, according to Reuters.

An Etihad Airways plane carrying Emirati government officials, with U.S. dignitaries accompanying them, took off from the UAE capital Abu Dhabi, headed to Ben-Gurion Airport, according to flight tracking website FlightRadar24.

It is worth mentioning that, on Monday, the UAE cabinet, headed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, approved a peace deal with Israel, dubbed as the Abraham Accords that aims to normalize ties between the two countries.

The agreement was signed in Washington by the UAE and Israel in August to normalize ties.

The cabinet expressed its confidence that the deal will help pave the way for peace and stability in the region as it strengthens bilateral relations.

The UAE and fellow Gulf state Bahrain in September became the first Arab states in a quarter of a century to sign agreements to establish formal ties with Israel, forged largely through shared fears of Iran.

The two sides signed memoranda of understanding on economic cooperation at the summit, Sky News Arabia reported, airing footage of the signing.
