Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry announced on Monday, that Egypt is setting up extensive contacts with all parties to achieve a ceasefire between the Palestinians and Israelis.

In exclusive statements to 'Sky News Arabia', Shoukry said that Egypt seeks an agreement soon to avoid further escalation between the two parties.

"We aim to establish the independent State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital," Shoukry stressed.

On Sunday, Palestinian Health Ministry announced  that 181 people including 52 children and 31 women were killed, and 1225 were wounded, as a result of the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

President Joe Biden spoke on Saturday separately with his Israeli and Palestinian counterparts, expressing his “grave concern” over the past six days over the violence that has left scores of dead and injured.

Biden expressed “Washington’s strong commitment to the two-state solution as the best way to reach a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” the White House said.
