Egypt's Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry said that the talks he held with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov tackled the latest developments in Syria and ways to end the crisis there, in accordance with international legislative provisions.

In a press joint press conference with Lavrov, Shoukry expressed appreciation for Russia's supportive position on Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) issue.

The minister also reiterated the need to reach a binding legal agreement on GERD as soon as possible, under the auspices of the African Union (AU), that will achieve the interests of all parties and remove any tension that may arise due to the continuation of unilateral policies.

Last week, Sudanese Prime Minister (PM) Abdullah Hamdouk reiterated his country’s rejection of any unilateral acts regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) issue.

In his word before United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Hamdouk stressed Sudan’s readiness to take part in any initiative that would lead to a peaceful solution to GERD Crisis.

Moreover, he noted that Sudan believes in good neighbourly relations.
