FM, French Counterpart Hold Talks in Luxembourg

Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry met on Monday, with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, on the sidelines of the ninth session of the EU-Egypt Association Council, hosted in Luxembourg.

The meeting comes within the framework of strategic relations and ongoing consultations between Egypt and France.

"On his part, Shoukry congratulated his French counterpart on assuming her post on May 30, wishing her success and inviting her to visit Cairo soon, to promote joint action," foreign ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

Moreover, FM expressed his aspiration to continue the close work between both countries to enhance the growing strategic partnership relations, hailing the participation of the French side in the ongoing development projects in Egypt.

The spokesman added that Shoukry reviewed the efforts made by Egypt, in preparation for the 27th session of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on climate change, and the importance of Egyptian-French coordination to achieve the conference's success.

In addition, both officials also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, including the Ukraine crisis and the situation in Libya.
