Brazilian football star Philippe Coutinho has already signed for Bayern Munich on a season long loan.

The German FC said that it has the option to sign the player for €120 million during the loan.

In a statement on their website, Barcelona confirmed the news, saying, "FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement for the loan of Coutinho to the German club for the 2019/20 season.

Bayern Munich will pay 8.5 million euros and the player's wages.

"FC Barcelona would like to thank to publicly thank Philippe Coutinho for his commitment and dedication wishes him all the best in this new stage of his career."

Bayern confirmed the news in modern fashion, with a social media video of Coutinho arriving at the club's training ground to sign.

Coutinho, 27, joined Barca from Liverpool in January 2018 for a club record fee of 120 million euros (£109.5 million) plus 45 million euros in variables.

The Brazilian played 76 games for the Catalans in all competitions, scoring 21 goals, but struggled to dovetail with his fellow attackers and has not had the intended impact on the team, despite winning two consecutive La Liga titles.

Barcelona were beaten in their opening league game of the season for the first time since 2009 on Friday night, after conceding an 89th-minute winner to Athletic Bilbao. The goal was scored in acrobatic fashion by 38-year-old striker Aritz Aduriz.

Bayern, meanwhile, were held to a 2-2 draw with Hertha Berlin. Centre-forward Robert Lewandowski scored both of their goals as they came from behind to rescue a point.
