Germany's Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs lifted on Saturday a ban preventing German nationals from traveling to Taba in South Sinai.

In this regard, Tourism Minister Rania Al Mashat welcomed the German decision, saying: "It will greatly contribute to increasing the number of German tourists, especially those flocking to tourist destinations in South Sinai."

"The decision will encourage the Egyptian tourism to restore its power again and boost the political and economic ties between Cairo and Berlin," Mashat added.

Meanwhile, Egypt's Ambassador to Germany Badr Abdel Ati stated that such positive transformation reflected stability and security enjoyed by Egypt and the strength of bilateral relations over the past four years.

"After lifting the ban on Taba, which was in force since 2014, the number of German tourists would grow up especially after the Egyptian Embassy in Berlin's success in increasing the number of German charter flights to Sharm El Sheikh," Abdel Ati pointed out.

The ambassador also cited Mashat's meetings with German officials and heads of travel operators during ITB Berlin.
