Fifa has just greeted Egypt's and Al Ahly's former goalkeeper and legend Essam El Hadary on his 47th birthday on Wednesday.

In the 2018 Fifa World Cup, held in Russia,  El Hadary became the oldest player and goalkeeper to participate in the tournament and save a penalty, when he took part in Egypt's encounter against Saudi Arabia in the third round of the group stage.

He managed to smash the record set by the former Colombian player Faryd Mondragón.

On its official Twitter page, Fifa sent its birthday wishes to the legendary goalkeeper El Hadary who turned 47 this year.

"The oldest player to appear at a World Cup, aged 45. Happy birthday, @ElHadary," Fifa tweeted.
