Feature Folk Art Symbols Featured in Latest Women's collection

Egyptian fashion designer, Rania Yousef presented her latest collection for spring, summer, and Ramadan.

She dubbed the collection “the palm of Fatma” (Kaf Fatma), which includes various folk art symbols such as the crescent, domes, cities, palm trees, and especially, the palm.

The designer told “SEE” that the collection took a lot of time because it was handmade, which she has been working on since last November.

“It is a collection pided into three groups. The first suit Ramadan, but was not created purposely for Ramadan, and can be worn through the year. A colorful, joyful summer group and the third group is the shawl, which I make sure to have in every collection,” Yousef said.

She added: “The collection consists of bisht, which is a type of abaya..We also have with us the skirt pants, which was high in demand last summer, because it is practical and combined the skirt and the pants.. I also presented the poncho, which attracts a lot of people, and the casual jacket, the long and the short,”.

* Designs for different body shapes

“In this collection, I was keen to meet the request of the obese, and the veiled woman, and the extremely long.. I mean, I tried to provide designs for all bodies and work to satisfy all tastes.” the designer continued.

*World of scarfs

“This place for me, Rania, is like the cartoon world ... The place where I can find myself. I can describe in every scarf its story and my point of view.. What made me continue creating it for nearly five collections, was because of how popular it is with the people.. And for the great sales it made,”

She continued: “Any client who looked at the scarfs was happy with it as if she understood what I wanted to say.. People on the street recognized me from the scarf.. That it left a mark with the people.. They connected with it and understood the stories on the scarf.”

*Shawl 2020

This year, the shawl collection is characterized by, every shawl has its own story, the Siwa shawl, the Nuba shawl, the hara shawl, the dervish shawl, and the tanoura shawl, each, tells a different story based on the folk art of Khayamiya.

“I used this year a local Egyptian cloth called “Allaga," Yousef added.

* The skirt and dress

 

The dress has a special place in the life of every woman, as it is a companion of tenderness and femininity. It started re-appearing years ago, competing with the pants that dominated the wardrobe.

“The dress is very fashionable this year. The skirt is indispensable for girls and women, which is very fashionable in all its lengths, and in particular, the width.” the designer concluded.
