The textile industry is a skill that man has known throughout history. From the Stone Age to the present era, textiles have become a global challenge due to the quality, price and desired product. You may be impressed for a moment that you can wear a piece of clothing that was originally made of a plastic material, then it has been transformed into a material that combines with eco-friendly yarns and does not cause skin problems; it can be worn by athletes as well.

This was one of the tools of the textile industry at the Cairo Fashion Tex Exhibition in its 65th session, namely the Indian Pavilion, inaugurated by Rahul Kulshreshth, Ambassador of India in Cairo, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Salam, Chairman of the Egyptian Chamber of Textiles Federation, and Ali Shoukry, Vice chairman of Cairo Chamber of Commerce.

Mohamed Abdel Salam: Indians are very successful in textile industry

During the inauguration, SEE news website held an interview with Dr. Abdel Salam on hosting the Indian Pavilion at the International Clothing & Textile Fair.

He stressed that the exhibition brings together many exhibitors from many countries such as India, China, Syria, as well as the Egyptians themselves.

On the Indian success, the Chairman of the Egyptian Chamber of Textiles Federation said that the Egyptian-Indian relations are historic, and “we have a friendly relationship since the 1950s, in addition to trade relations”, stressing that the Indians are very successful in the textile industry.

He added: "On the Egyptian level, we seek to benefit from them as well, and transfer their experience to the Egyptian textile factories, we are trying to provide the Egyptian consumer with the high quality products at the cheapest prices."

Indian Ambassador: Our Participation represents an opportunity for long-term cooperative partnership with Egypt

The Indian Ambassador confirmed to SEE that the inauguration of the Indian Pavilion and its participation in the exhibition is an affirmation of the Egyptian-Indian relations, because it is one of the most important tributaries of Egyptian-Indian trade relations, pointing out: “Our participating is an opportunity to build a long-term cooperative partnership with Egyptian textile companies.”

Egyptian-Indian Trade Relations

Textile products are an important component of bilateral trade between India and Egypt. India is the third largest supplier of textiles and clothing to Egypt.

Egypt is one of India's most important traditional trading partners in the Arab and African region in 2018-2019, while bilateral trade between India and Egypt increased by 23% to reach US $ 4.55 billion in 2018-2019 compared to US $ 3.68 billion in 2017-2018.
