Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture & Arts announced the winner of its award in photography and the launch of an exhibition for the honored people in the final list, at the Arts Center on Gezira Art Center in Zamalek.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Hosny, Egyptian archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass, Director of the Alexandria Library, and Dr. Khaled Sorour, the head of the Fine Arts, a group of Fine Arts artists and members of the Board of Trustees.

It was also attended by the wives of the English and Austrian ambassadors, and a large number of community stars, writers, critics, artists, private galleries, and members of the award jury.

It is the first award of the foundation since its establishment at the end of last October.
The exhibition included works that qualify for the final stage of the competition at Gezira Art Center in Zamalek.

The ceremony included a speech by the artist Farouk Hosny, former Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, and the word of the jury.

During the ceremony, a short film about the foundation was displayed.
"The foundation seeks to build the Egyptian person by supporting young creative people in various fields," Hosny said. "The beginning of this year was with the art of photography, and we will work in the coming years to organize other competitions in the various branches of arts and culture to complete the Egyptian cultural painting."
Hosny expressed his great admiration for the level of artistic works submitted to the competition, which proves the Egyptian youth`s creativity.
"There are many talents that need to be sponsored, and this is our role in the foundation," he added. "The foundation does not provide a financial award only, but also it will help artists in marketing their works, by displaying them in a group art exhibition."
Hosny also said: “Due to the success of the foundation, we received from a dear friend an unconditional grant allocated for life for the award, and there will be another part to support other activities that are announced successively.”
He refused to reveal the name of the person who donates for the award. He expressed thanks and appreciation to him for his great donation.
Abdel Dayem also said: "The cultural institutions of civil society play an important role in many countries.
She stressed that Egyptian culture is working to achieve integration between official cultural bodies and private institutions to reach all spectra of society, believing in the importance of partnership in cultural development to establish a healthy civil society.
“Culture plays a great role in raising awareness and facing obscurantism and extremism,” Abdel Dayem said. “The Ministry of Culture will organize an exhibition for the winner of the Farouk Hosny Award in Horizon Hall.”
She praised Hosny`s role in the culture field, mentioning that it is not his first time to do that, as he presented many great works to cultures; we are still reaping the benefits.”

The names of the participants who qualified for the final stage were Ahmed Yahya, Saeed Al Badawi, Eman Abdel Rahman Hussein, Khushao Hisham Farouk, Dina Samuel Nasr, Reham Mohamed El Sayed, Sarah Ayman Gamal, Shadow Mohamed Ibrahim, Mohamed Khaled Mohamed, Mohamed Gamal Basyouni and Noha Mohamed Sayed Hanafy.
