WASHINGTON, Mar.13 (SEE)- Facebook and Instagram social networks were hit on Wednesday with a defect in their services in various parts of the world.

Different users around the world reported complaints of social networking sites after being unable to log in to their accounts.

A specialist in tracking and analysis of websites defaults Down-detector announced that these problems occur frequently in Europe and the eastern coast of the United States.

It is not clear whether the problems at the sites are linked to each other, though it is worth mentioning that Facebook acquired Instagram in 2012.

The DDoS attack is intended to block the service of a site or a network for a period of time, disrupting its operation by flooding its servers with a stream of unnecessary data, which causes servers to be fully operational and disrupts the network or the site.

The company said the site is under maintenance and will function regularly in the coming hours.
