Facebook Gets Lion’s Share of Fake News

A recent global survey revealed that 86% of the internet users are victims of fake news especially the ones who use Facebook.

About more than 25,000 internet users in 25 countries shared in this annual Ipsos survey.

Less inaccurate news were found via YouTube, Twitter and other social media platforms.

The survey's participants urged all governments to put an end to rumors spread via social media.

The United States

The Unite states bear the great responsibility in terms of the number of fake news published on the internet, followed by Russia and china.

The survey also highlighted the vulnerability of Egyptians to be deceived more by these kind of news if compared to people in other countries.

Raising Concerns

In general, the survey showed peoples’ rising concerns, discomfort and lack of confidence in social media companies.

It’s worth mentioning that the poll was conducted between December 21, 2018 and February 10, 2019 on behalf of the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI).
