IWD.. Prominent Ladies in Egyptian Government

CAIRO, Mar.14.(SEE)- Leaders of social media traded a photo of the Egyptian female ministers serving current government after they were submitted a photo session in conjunction with the "International Women's Day". For the first time in Egyptian history the Cabinet has a total of eight female ministers.

The photo showed the elegance of female ministers: Dr. Inas Abd El-Dayem Minister of Culture, Dr. Ghada Wali Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Rania Mashat Minister of Tourism, Minister of Health Dr. Hala Zayed, Dr. Nabila Makram Minister of Immigration, Dr. Yasmine Fouad Minister of Environment, Hala El-Saeed Minister of Planning and Follow-up, Dr. Sahar Nasr, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation.

Abd El- Dayem is the first female to be the minister of culture since the ministry was officially founded in 1958. She was the head of the Opera House and a prominent flute player. She held multiple solo performances and joined the International Orchestra of the UNESCO.

El-Mashat, for 11 years, worked as deputy governor of the Central Bank of Egypt for monetizing policy. She also worked as an economist in the International Monetary Fund in Washington.

Furthermore, Zayed is the second female minister in the history of Health Ministry since its establishment in 1937. She was the president of the 57357 Academy of Health Sciences, the chairwoman of the Supreme Committee for Combating Corruption at the Ministry of Health and an advisor to the minister of health and population.

As for Fouad, she has been the assistant environment minister for foreign affairs for the past four years. She’s also an assistant professor in the faculty of economics and political science in Cairo University. Fouad has represented Egypt many times in several international and continental conferences regarding the Green Climate Fund and climate change.

Nasr, born in 1964; she obtain a bachelor degree in Economics from the American University in Cairo (AUC) in 1985, and a master’s degree in Economics in 1990. She was appointed as investment minister in October 2015.

Moreover, Wali obtained a Master of Arts and Humanities degree from Cairo University in 1980. She also obtained a BA from the Faculty of Languages and Literature, Cairo University, in 1977. She was appointed as the Minister of Solidarity since former Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab’s cabinet in February 2014.

As for El-Saeed, she gained a Bachelor of Economics from the Faculty of Political Science and Economics at Cairo University in 1978. She has been in office since February 2017.

Lastly, Makram obtained a Bachelor in Economics and Political Science from Cairo University in 1991, and was appointed as immigration minister in September 2015.
