The experts of the Ministry of Antiquities have started the installation of the four stone Paranoiac rams next to the obelisk of King Ramses II on Tahrir Square downtown Cairo. The rams have been restored and installed on the square.

Moving of the four rams to Tahrir Square in the center of Cairo was successfully completed within a short time after they have been restored over the past few months.

Dr. Mustafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, explained that two rams of the four were having just installed on their bases.

The two other rams will be installed in designated places for them, next to the obelisk of King Ramses II, which was also restored and established on the square during the past months.

All the four rams will be encased in wooden boxes until the opening of the development project of Tahrir Square; the installation was funded by the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, in coordination with the Cairo Governorate, and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities within the framework of the state’s plan to highlight Egypt’s unique civilization to the world.

This plan comes amid other parts of a scenario and new designs to beautify the square and show it in the most magnificent way.  It aims to make the square as a new sight among the archaeological and tourist attractions in Cairo city.

The moving of the four rams was carried out by the Arab Contractors Company under the supervision of the technicians, archaeological and restoration experts of the Supreme Council of Antiquities and its Secretary- General.
