CAIRO, Jan. 21 (SEE) - The annual

meeting of the World Economic Forum, widely-known as Davos, attracts nearly

3000 political and economic figures this year. Ten Egyptian statesmen and

business figures are expected to attend Tuesday's opening session.

Must-Know Facts about Davos

The WEF was founded in 1971 by

Klaus Schwab, a German-born business professor at the University of Geneva

under the name of the “European Management Forum.”

In 1987, the name was changed to

the World Economic Forum and it sought to broaden its vision to include

providing a platform for resolving international conflicts.

In 2018, Indian Prime Minister

Narendra Modi gave the plenary speech becoming the first head of state from

India to deliver the inaugural keynote for the annual meeting at Davos.
