The European Union Representative in occupied Jerusalem called on Israel, and Palestine to exercise the utmost restraint in order to avoid further escalation and casualties.
“The European Union is following with great concern the recent developments in Gaza, which have led to a number of casualties, including civilians and children,” the office said in a statement issued on Saturday.
“All parties must exercise maximum restraint in order to avoid further escalation and more casualties. Everything must be done to prevent the outbreak of a wider conflict, which, first of all, will affect the civilian population on both sides and lead to more casualties,” the statemnet added.
The office stressed that these events highlight “the need to restore the political horizon and ensure a sustainable situation in Gaza.”
It is worth mentioing that, Israel launched a series of raids on Friday evening across the Gaza Strip, killing 10 Palestinians, including the prominent leader of the Al-Quds Brigades, Tayseer Al-Jabari, and a 5-year old girl.
