The Ethiopian Foreign Ministry denied the validity of the circulating reports regarding the expulsion of the South Sudanese ambassador in Addis Ababa.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ambassador Dina Mufti, stated that what is being rumoured in the media about Ethiopia's expulsion of the South Sudanese ambassador in Addis Ababa is "inaccurate and unfounded."

Mufti affirmed the stability of Ethiopian relations with South Sudan, indicating that they have strong relations in various fields and that the two countries look forward to strengthening their relations more for the benefit of its people.

The Ethiopian spokesman called for disregarding such rumours that aim to confuse the relations of the two peoples of the two countries.

On previous Sunday, the media circulated news of Addis Ababa's expulsion of the Juba ambassador, for reports that the leader of the Tigray Liberation Front, Debretsion Gebremichael, had fled to South Sudan.

Also, the Ethiopian army called on its members to be alert and prepared to prevent any possible suicide attacks that the Tigray Liberation Front militia might launch.

The Ethiopian army said that they rose the state of emergency to prevent any possible attacks that might be committed by the remnants of the Tigray Liberation Front forces and their armed militias.

Gen. Bacha Dubli, commander of the Eastern Front in the law enforcement campaign in Tigray said, "A state of alert had been declared for all army pisions that executed the rule of law enforcement operation in Tigray province."

The Ethiopian general stated, in a press conference, that "suicide operations may occur from the remnants of the Tigray Liberation Front forces and militias in various cities."

He also noted that this "requires the necessity to raise the maximum level of readiness of the army to prevent these expected attacks from the Tigray Liberation Front that lost its last stronghold after the capture of the city of Mekele."

On Saturday, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced the cessation of military operations in the Tigray region, after they had completed the control of the city of Mekele.

He said that the federal government now controls the city of Mekele, the capital of the Tigray region, and the Federal Police will continue its mission of arresting the front criminals and bringing them to justice.

Moreover, he explained that the process of infiltrating Mekele was carried out carefully to ensure the civilians' safety, praising the residents of Tigray region for their support and cooperation to the Ethiopian National Defense Forces in all the fighting areas.
