Acclaimed actor Ethan Hawke has recently joined Julia Robert's Netflix Thriller movie "Leave the World Behind".
It also stars Mahershala Ali, Myha’la Herrold, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, and Charlie Evans.
Hawke will portray Roberts’ husband, Armstrong and Evans will play their children, and Herrold will play Ali’s daughter.
Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail on board to direct and adapt Rumaan Alam’s novel.
The movie will be produced by Roberts through her Red Om Films banner and Esmail and Chad Hamilton through Esmail Corp.
Red Om’s Lisa Gillan and Marisa Yeres Gill also serve as producers. Alam will exec produce.
The movie is based on Alam’s novel of the same title.
"Leave the World Behind" is centered around two families, strangers to each other, who are forced together on a long weekend gone terribly wrong.
It also explores how the closest bonds are reshaped — and unexpected new ones are forged — in moments of crisis.
The novel was published in 2020 and was a finalist for the 2020 National Book Awards. It has been named A Best Book of the Year by The Washington Post, NPR, Time, Esquire and Elle among others.
Moreover, Hawke continues to stay as busy as ever as he recently wrapped production as the villain in Marvel’s "Moon KnightMoon Knight" .
He can be seen in Robert Eggers’ "The North man" and "Knives Out 2".
