Egyptian midfielder Mohamed El-Neny took part in Besiktas' training for the first time since he joined the Turkish club in August.

The Turkish club has published some photos of El-Neny's first appearance as they are preparing to resume the league after the international break.

Besiktas will play their next game on Sunday, September 15. The former Arsenal player joined the Turkish side on Saturday, August 31 on a season-long loan, including an option to make the transfer permanent from the Gunners.

Elneny, who moved to Arsenal in 2016 coming from FC Basel for £5 million, failed to book his place in the Gunners’ starting eleven, especially since the arrival of new coach Unai Emery.

The 27-year-old player participated with the Pharaohs in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, but Egypt suffered a shock defeat from South Africa in the last 16 to exit the tournament.

He also guided his national team to advance to the 2018 FIFA World Cup, held in Russia, where he participated with Egypt in their three clashes in the group stage.

Besiktas played only two games in the Turkish league, as they managed to pull off the victory in one and lose the other. Besiktas were placed in Group K in the Europa League, alongside Braga, Wolves, and Slovan Bratislava.
