Dr. Mostafa el Feki, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina said on Tuesday that there is a historical and national Egyptian commitment towards the Palestinian cause. He pointed out that Egypt aims to lift the burden off the Palestinian people.

During his meeting with TV Anchor Sherif Amer on MBC Masr, he added that Egypt fought 4 wars to defend the Palestinian issue, as Palestinian national security is part of the Egyptian national security.

El Feki pointed out that the Palestinian factions realize that the Egyptian role towards their issue is a paternal role, as Egypt has used its relations with the world and then with Israel after the Camp David Accords for the sake of this goal.

El Feki went on saying: "Egypt has no other goals than lifting the burden on the Palestinian people."

The director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina continued: "The regional and international circumstances have been completely changed, and we are facing a new American administration. Therefore, the Palestinian factions must agree in order to present their case."

He explained that the Egyptian popular commitment not to normalize relations with Israel is due to the Egyptian position on the Palestinian issue, pointing to the geographical location adjacent to the Palestinian territories.

He believed that the “Deal of the Century” was buried with the previous US administration, indicating that "we are in the stage of exploring the new US administration."
