El-Ahly Eliminated From African Champions League Despite Victory

El-Ahly crashed out of the African Champions League, even though the achieved a hard fought 1-0 victory against South African Side Sundowns in the second leg of the quarter finals of the tournament.

The Red giants started the match with a bang as they missed their first major chance only 15 seconds into the first half after a shot from Walid Azzaru found it's way into the keeper's hands. Azzaru came back minutes later to miss yet another chance after heading Agayee's cross into the keeper's hands.

Ramadan Sobhi took advantage of the one of Sundown's defender's mistakes to play the ball to Walid Azaro, who shot the ball into the goal of Onyango , who sent it into a corner in the 28th minute.

Moments into the second half, The referee canceled a goal for Junior Ajaye in the 48th minute after the ball rebounded from Onyango but the assistant referee raised his banner counting the player to be in offisde position.

El-Ahly scored their first and only goal of the match in the 68th minute after Azzarru heading a beautiful cross by veteran Ahmed Fathy into the nets of the South African Club.

The result allows Sundowns to qualify to the Semi-finals of the competition achieving a 5-1 overall win against last year's finalists.
