On Saturday, Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly sent a cable of congratulations to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on the occasion of the Islamic (Hijri) new year, 1443.

On this day, Muslims celebrate 1443 years since Islam’s Prophet Muhammad -peace be upon him- migrated from Mecca to Medina, to save Muslims from torture by leaders of Quraish, an Arab tribe Muhammad was part of, and to protect the proselytism of Islam from being eradicated by disbelievers at that time.

“I extend my sincere congratulations to the Egyptian people and the Islamic nation on the occasion of the start of the new Hijri year,” Madbouly said, adding that it is a decision full of “great and noble meanings in our hearts”.

“I pray to God on this great occasion that this year be a year of goodness, peace, prosperity and stability for our beloved Egypt.”
