Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a series of telephone conversations on Tuesday with Chairperson of the African Union Commission Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Burundi’s Foreign Minister Édouard Bizimana representing the current African Union presidency, Angola’s Foreign Minister Tete António, Tanzania’s Foreign Minister Mahmoud Thabit and the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Foreign Minister Thérèse Wagner.

The calls came within the framework of ongoing consultations and coordination with African partners regarding priorities for joint African action.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khallaf said the discussions focused on ways to strengthen African coordination to promote peace, security and stability across the continent, advance sustainable development efforts and exchange views on various regional and continental issues of mutual interest.

The talks also addressed the latest health developments in Africa and ways to enhance collective responses to health-related challenges. Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s readiness to share its capabilities, expertise and technical support in this field, reflecting Egypt’s commitment to supporting fellow African nations and strengthening health security across the continent.

The spokesman added that the conversations also covered the proposed new dates and preparations for the Eighth Mid-Year Coordination Summit of the African Union, the 49th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union, and related AU events scheduled to be hosted by Egypt later this year.

These meetings are expected to contribute to stronger coordination between African countries and the African Union Commission, while advancing efforts toward continental economic integration.
