Egypt’s Cultural Sector in China Exerts Efforts for Students Safety: Statement

The Egyptian Sector of Cultural Affairs and Missions in China said that it is striving for the safety of its citizens in all parts of the world, in reference to the exceptional circumstances in China.

Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry is exerting great effort towards Egyptian students studying in China from various universities and the Egyptian research centers, institutes and bodies, in order to achieve the public interest and personal safety of these scholars and their families, and to preserve the Egyptian national security.

Returning to the homeland for those who wish them under these exceptional circumstances, will be at the expense of the missions.

This message concerns bodies offering grants to the state joint financing from the Chinese and Egyptian sides, or to those giving grants provided by the Chinese government or the Chinese Council or external financing full funding from the Chinese side, in accordance with Ministry’s regulations.

The Ministry calls upon all bodies to fully adhere to these regulations in order to ensure students’ personal safety and their academic future. The regulations are:

*First: general controls, which are obtaining all the necessary approvals from the cultural office before taking the decision to return, and not move from China until after referring to the Egyptian cultural office in Beijing, and taking the central administration approval for the missions to move, everyone bearing the responsibility of not adhering to this decision.

*Second: Controls related to the academic position, which is obtaining a letter from the Chinese University in which the students are enrolled in stating their positions and agreeing to stop studying there, then returning from home and resuming studies after the crisis ends.

Meanwhile, the registration of the scholarship will be stopped provided the approval of the host country in China. Students, during their stay in the homeland will take over his job at the university or research center in Egypt.

Third: Controls related to tickets and allocations, which are that if all concerned parties agree to return, reservations are made only through the Egyptian Cultural Office in Beijing and through the Egypt Tourism Company to ensure the integrity of the required procedures.

Return tickets are granted at the expense of one-year scholarship for students and their families, if they are able to return to complete their studies after the crisis has ended.
