On Monday, Egypt reported 189 new coronavirus cases, all of them are Egyptians except one foreigner, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 3,333.

“Eleven more deaths were confirmed; raising the total number to 250,” Khaled Megahed, the Health Ministry’s spokesman, said in a statement.

“Up to 821 coronavirus patients have recovered so far,” the spokesman said.

“As many as 89 Egyptians were among the recovered patients today,” he added.

Also, the number of coronavirus patients who had now been retested for the virus and had received negative results has reached 1,086, after getting proper treatment in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO).

Earlier, Health Minister Hala Zayed said that 61% of the positive cases are from males and 39% from females.

Zayed mentioned that 30% of deaths had died before checking in at the isolation hospitals.

“About 94% of the deaths were in the age group of over 50,” Zayed pointed out, adding: “22% of the confirmed cases are in the age group of 50 to 59.”

“100% of the deceased had chronic diseases and tumors,” the minister affirmed.

Earlier, Dr. John Jabbour, the WHO representative, noted that Egypt seriously dealt with the novel coronavirus since the start of its outbreak.
