English Aston Villa Football Club announced extending Egyptian player Ahmed Elmohamady contract for another extra year, the club announced on its official website on Thursday.

The 31-year-old has featured 89 times since joining in 2017 - scoring twice and registering 13 assists.

"I'm absolutely delighted to extend my contract for another year." Elmohamady said.

"I'm very happy, I'm looking forward to the next two years.” he added.

"Hopefully we can have another successful year. It's been a difficult start for us, but we played really well in our last two games, sometimes I think we were unlucky with some mistakes. But I think if we're playing well the luck will come at one point.

"The Premier League is always a big league, the best league in the world so the main target for us this year is to just finish as high as we can in the table."

The 2019/20 season will be Elmohamady’s seventh in the top tier after making 165 appearances in the Premier League for both Sunderland and Hull City.

Since joining Villa back in July 2017, the 31-year-old has played a vital role in the club’s success, making a total of 87 games, in which he provided 13 assists while scoring twice along the way.

Last season alone, he appeared on 42 occasions across all competitions and assisted twice, including a decisive cross in playoffs final.

It is noteworthy that Elmohamady scored 12 goals in 218 appearances during his five years with City, spent mainly at right-back or right midfield, and twice won promotion to the Premier League.
