Some 23,416,741, or 88.83%, have voted "yes" for the constitutional amendments, said Egypt's National Election Authority chief on Tuesday.

Lashin Ibrahim said 29,945,680, or 11.17%, rejected.

The national referendum which focused on a number of constitutional amendments took place April 20, 21, and 22, in Egypt, and from April 19 to 21 for Egyptians abroad.

The amendments extend the presidential term from four to six years, designate 25 percent of parliamentary seats to female candidates, re-introduce an upper chamber of parliament (the Senate), and reinstate the post of vice president.
