Egyptian Presence in African Markets “Essential”: Mohsen Salah

Chairman and CEO of Arab Contractors Mohsen Salah said on Wednesday that the company is witnessing an “unprecedented period” in the construction field, during Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's era.

In his exclusive interview with presenter “Rami Radwan” on “DMC” TV channel, Salah stressed that the president has a full trust in the Egyptian companies, and always give them a strong boost to compete with their global counterparts.

“There are many projects that we could not imagine accomplishing on our own without resorting to foreign experts, including, Suez Canal tunnels, but his Excellency the President insisted on implementing this project with Egyptian arms,” Salah added.

Moreover, he affirmed that a “huge” number of projects, with the highest quality standards, have been implemented during the last 6 years, such as the Egyptian national road network.

Arab contractors is taking part in multiple national projects in Egypt at one time, including, the New Administrative Capital (NAC), Al-Alamein city, and new Mansoura city.

“The NAC government district will be completed throughout this year, and the ministries will be transferred there,” Salah revealed. “Among the company’s important projects in the NAC are the buildings of the parliament and Shura council as well as Al–Fattah Al-Alem mosque.”

Regarding the monorail train in Egypt, Arab contractors CEO affirmed that it is a high-end public transport project that will greatly contribute to achieving traffic flow and the quick transfer from a place to another in an easy and comfortable way.

He continued that the project will be implemented in two stages to connect the NAC with the greater Cairo and 6Th October City.

On the other hand, Salah noted that “Al-Tahrir Square” has become a symbol for all Egyptians, confirming that the square's developments should have the taste of Pharaoh’s history.

“A Pharaonic obelisk with a size of more than 60 tons will be established and placed in the center of the square to reflect the ancient Egyptian civilization,” he continued.

Concerning the black continent, Chairman of Arab Contractors said that the company has a strong presence inside the continent.” The 1st branch for the company abroad was established in Nigeria 20 years ago.”

In addition, Salah added that the firm is implementing various projects in most of the African countries, stressing that the volume of those projects have increased in the recent years, thanks to President Sisi’s efforts in enhancing the Egyptian-African relations, in the light of Egypt’s current presidency of the African Union (AU).

Among those key projects is winning a tender to design and build a huge dam on Tanzania’s Rufiji River, which a Turkish company tried to seize but in vain, as President’s Sisi good relations with his Tanzanian counterpart titled the balance in favor of Egypt.

Concerning the “Cape to Cairo Railway” project, Salah stressed that this project will greatly contribute to linking African countries together, supporting the idea of the joint African market, and promoting the intra-African trade, in accordance with Egypt’s head of state strategy.

“The corporation has already completed two stages of the project in Tanzania; we are studying now the road from Egypt to Chad,” he said. “The Egyptian presence in African markets is essential.”
