On Sunday, the whole world celebrated World Tourism Day, which came on September 27 of each year; it also coincided with the Egyptology day, when the French scientist Jean-Francois Champollion decoded the hieroglyphs.

The world celebrated World Tourism Day this year under the slogan “Tourism and Rural Development,” which was chosen by the World Tourism Organization to make this year an opportunity to enhance tourism.

Also, the WTO seeks to create job opportunities and highlight the unique role of tourism in preserving heritage. Moreover, the organization focused on promoting natural and cultural migration and reducing migration to urban areas all over the world.

Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, celebrated this celebration by organizing a visit of 30 ambassadors of foreign countries to Sharm El-Sheikh.

The ministers of tourism and antiquities, civil aviation, the environment, and the state for the media, also attended the visit to combine different types of tourism, which are cultural, environmental, beach, and recreational tourism.

During this visit, the Eco Egypt campaign was launched as the first campaign to promote natural protections in Egypt.

The campaign aimed to raise environmental awareness among citizens of the importance of natural resources and support ecotourism, in addition to a snorkeling cruise and a cycling marathon in the city’s streets.
