Egypt, Italy Agree to Boost Cooperation in Health Sector

Dr. Hala Zayed, Egypt's Minister of Health and Population discussed on Sunday a number of health issues in Egypt with Italian ministers during the International Forum, held in Italy.

Zayed took part in the forum along with other health ministers from different countries including (Italy, Tunisia, Iraq, Kurdistan, and Kenya), as well as Dr. Kamal Al-Gharibi, head of the Swiss investment group GK working in the field of providing medical services, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, and Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio.

The minister conveyed the kind greetings and camaraderie from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, to the government and people of Italy, thanking the government for hosting such a necessary forum amid the Coronavirus pandemic, one of the most important challenges facing the world faces nowadays.

On his part, Italy’s Minister of Health Roberto Speranza stressed the importance of cooperation among countries in the health sector, expressing his desire to cooperate with Egypt in exchanging health system experiences, in addition to benefiting from Egypt's experience in eliminating virus C and applying it in Italy.

She also met with the president of the (ENI) organization and the director of the medical sector at the Italian company (ENI). They discussed ways of supporting the health services through training and upgrading the efficiency of Egyptian medical staff, as well as providing hospitals with equipment for nurseries and centers for treating burns.

She met with Eugenio Benedetti Gaglio, great-grandson of Egypt’s Italian hospital founder, who expressed his deep love for Egypt.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to develop the hospital by opening a new operations wing with Italian funding. On his part, Gaglio expressed his keenness to enhance cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population to support the Nursing Institute in Port Said Governorate.
