Egyptian high-level delegation to head to Ethiopia on Monday

CAIRO, Aug 26 (SEE) - Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Director of the Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate (GIS) Abbas Kamel will head on Monday for Addis Ababa to meet with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmad, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zaid said on Sunday.

In a statement, Abu Zaid said that the Egyptian officials will convey a verbal message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Ahmad.

"The visit aims to strengthen the Egyptian-Ethiopian relations, ways of boosting them and developments of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) negotiations as well as the outcomes of the nine-way meeting, held in the Ethiopian capital in May," the spokesman added.

"It is expected that the meeting will touch on establishing a fund for infrastructure among Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sudan in order to foster joint cooperation in the domain of the developmental projects," he further stated.

"The get-together will discuss regional developments in the Horn of Africa region and means of supporting peace and stability in this important zone," he said.
