Hamdy Abdel Aziz, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Petroleum denied the presence of manganese in Egyptian gasoline or any other metals that might harm the car's engine and conform to the standard specifications.

The European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), representing about 16 vehicle factories, had sent a complaint to the Ministry, and the Consumer Protection Agency, regarding the poor quality of gasoline in Egypt and its containment of manganese that affects car engines, explaining in its letter that it was discovered complications in the governorates of Cairo and Suez, calling on the Egyptian authorities to take measures to ensure the quality of gasoline sold in the Egyptian market.

Abdel Aziz – during a call-in with Amr Adib on MBC Masr – responded to the complaint, saying that Egyptian gasoline is a local product, and it is produced from Egyptian refineries, and manganese, if placed, will harm the refining equipment and cause malfunctions.

"It is difficult to mix it in the Egyptian laboratories, adding that the warehouses that contain the gasoline analyze the samples there, as well as in the underground tanks of the petrol stations."

"Why the complaint appears only in the governorates of Cairo and Suez?, especially since it is one product in all stations, bringing the total pumped gasoline to 30 million liters per day at all gas stations," he asked.

He pointed out that the problem of adulterated gasoline appeared two months ago, especially gasoline 95, and the Ministry formed a committee to analyze random samples in many governorates. Samples were taken from the main warehouses or existing tanks, and no problems appeared.

He stressed that the ministry has no objection to someone who wants to verify the quality of gasoline to come to analyze samples from the main warehouses or warehouses at the stations at any time and from any station instead of analyzing the fuel in the cars, stressing that the letter will be answered officially, reassuring the Egyptian citizen that There is no problem in gasoline.
