 Egyptian Child "Maisara" Wins Title of Person of Year 2020 in Austria

An Egyptian child named "Maisara" Mahmoud Makled (of Upper Egypt origin), and a member of the Egyptian community in Austria, won the title of Person of the Year for the current year 2020 in the country.

He won the title as a result of his societal efforts as he has launched an initiative that succeeded in supporting and helping the elderly during the months of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis that is still sweeping the world until now.

Ambassador Nabila Makram Abdel-Shaheed, Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs made a phone call to the child to congratulate him on winning this title.

In the same context, the minister expressed her pride in the children of Egyptians abroad, and the wonderful examples that they set in serving those around them.

She stressed that the Coronavirus pandemic demonstrated the purity, magnanimity, and generosity of the Egyptians abroad in many situations such as the launch of the initiative "Let Us Support One Another" and the help of those around them in the communities in the countries in which they reside.

Nabila Makram added that the Austrian Chancellor, Sebastian Curtis, handed Maisara Mahmoud, of Sohag Governorate in Upper Egypt, the award granted by "Die Presse" a daily Austrian newspaper, in appreciation of his activity in public work.

The Austrian Chancellor praised the efforts of the Egyptian child, as Maisara has launched an initiative on the social networking site "Instagram" with the help of a number of his colleagues to help the elderly people meet their needs in the city of Vienna to face the repercussions of the Coronavirus. The Egyptian child allotted a set of phone numbers that he has been developed for the elderly to communicate with them.

In the same context, the child Maisara sent a message to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, thanking him for his great efforts to build a strong state and achieve development in all areas. He also dedicated this honor to Egypt, his own family, and the Egyptian community in Vienna, the capital city of Austria.

He stressed that this honor motivates him to continue working in all social and service initiatives to relieve citizens in Austria. A number of the family members of the Egyptian child, members of the Egyptian community in Vienna participated in the honoring ceremony.

The father of Maisara, Mahmoud Makled, explained that his son has a strong love to participate in community initiatives in Austria, as he is keen to integrate into the service of the needy, without any discrimination.

He stressed that he is interested in doing activities and writing research on Egypt throughout the school year. Maisara publishes reports about the most beautiful places in Egypt on social networking sites.

The Minister of Emigration invited Maisara and a number of his friends in Austria to visit Egypt and learn about its history and civilization through the Second Generation Forums Initiative organized by the ministry.
