Engineer Ashraf Noyer, head of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, announced the extension (within 96 hours) of the approval period for PCR test. The previous period was 72 hours. The Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority has issued directions to all airlines operating in all Egyptian airports to put the extension into consideration.

From 72 to 96 for PCR:

The move comes in light of the ban on entry of all arrivals of all nationalities, including Egyptian nationality, to all airports of the Arab Republic of Egypt without the next having a PCR test certificate. The test is used to detect the emerging corona virus (with a negative result) is 72 hours before the scheduled date of the flight.

Perform a PCR scan for travelers

Travelers coming from Japan - China - Thailand - North and South America - Canada and London Heathrow and Paris are exempted from the extension. Travelers from Frankfurt are allowed at most 96 hours from the scheduled date of the flight due to the long travel and transit times at those airports; travelers need to adhere to all precautionary measures during the travel period.

Three ministries collaboration

Nabila Makram, Minister of State for Immigration and Affairs Egyptians abroad, sent to the Ministers of Health and Civil Aviation the measures that have been taken to facilitate the citizens coming from abroad.

This extension was put into effect because many travelers coming from all nationalities to Cairo airports complained of being subjected to quarantine and having PCR certificate (with a negative result) for only 72 hours before the arrival. This has caused a problem with the quarantine.
