Egypt to Receive 500K Doses of Sinopharm Vaccine Soon

Egypt's Health Minister Hala Zayed spoke by phone with the Chinese ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang on Tuesday.

During the phone call, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation between both countries in the manufacturing of Coronavirus vaccines, as well as China’s readiness to send 500,000 doses of ‘Sinopharm’ vaccine to Egypt within this current month, as part of a purchase agreement for 20 million doses of the vaccine.

Moreover, they discussed the joint manufacturing agreement between both countries that will allow Egypt to produce China’s Sinovac vaccine locally, at Vacsera.

In addition, the phone call further addressed the mechanism to activate (QR code) between Egypt and China, which includes information on travelers' PCR test results, antibodies test results, and their vaccination status.
