Egypt to receive $300 mln from World Bank

Cairo – SEP 22 (SEE): World Bank announced Today a new $300 million loan for complementing the current Sustainable Rural Sanitation Services Program in Egypt.

 

The development objective of the program is to strengthen institutions and policies for increasing access and improving rural sanitation services in the Governorates of Beheira, Dakahliya, and Sharkiya in Egypt.

The program made significant progress toward the initial goal of connecting 167,000 rural households and 833,000 Egyptians.

The World Bank group finances programmes and projects to help Egypt reduce poverty and boost shared prosperity.

 

It currently has a portfolio of 16 projects in Egypt with a total commitment of $6.69 billion.

On the  other hand, The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is co-financing the scaled-up program with US$ 300 million.

The project has started in July 2015 and is expected to end in August 2022.
